Abstract
This paper investigates the role of clerics in the formation of new schools in Iran. Most analyses of new schools in Iran have either presented the negative role of clerics or neglected the role they have played in the formation of these schools; this paper claims that clerics have had an active role in the establishment of the new schools in Iran. This research through phenomenological approach has collected evidence and historical documents which show that the clerics did not have a passive role in the trend but have admitted the school training as a method of training and played active role in this regard. Evidence show that clerics role in the establishment of new schools have been encouraging, supportive and participatory. Furthermore, this social force has actively participated in the school training and used this system for development of new science and technologies among Muslims.
