Investigation of personal philosophy in religious education : university teachers' perspective in Kurdistan

Abstract

The main aim of this research was the investigation of the personal philosophy in religious education using qualitative and phenomenological approach. The participants in this study were 11 Kurdistan University's teachers selected through stratified random sampling to theoretical suffusion of data. To gather the data, scale factoring interview with holistic guiding was used and the analysis was developmental phenomenology. The findings were categorized in three groups, namely, presuppositions, principles, and methodologies. The participants believed that the current position of religious training is not ideal. Therefore, the need is felt for the teachers who have institutionalized their religious education and by  congruency of their words and actions, act, visibly or invisibly, to develop and perfect students.. These teachers, emphasizing the moral and religious substructures in the light of freedom of thinking and action and pattern presentation, should portray the kind of religion that he desires; such teachers should be familiar with familial and cultural background of the families to direct him to real religious actions far from duplicity. The teachers should be pioneer in the actions and provide friendly and consulting guidance, if need be
