Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Quranic music and voice on the anxiety-before-exam of the third grade high school students. The methodology is experimental pretest posttest with control group. The instrumentation is exam anxiety (TAT) (Abolqasemi et al , 1375). The sample covers all the third grader high school students in Babol; sampling is done through stratified random sampling, namely 50 (25 boys and 25 girls) who had before-exam anxiety were selected and studied. The testees’ anxieties were measured after sitting for the test before the distribution of the test paper as the pretest. Then for five minutes, some of qurnaic recitation was played recited by Abdolbaset; next the anxiety was measured as the posttest. There was no intervention for the control group yet the anxiety was measured. The analysis of covariance reveals that this Quranic recitation has meaningfully reduced the anxiety of the testees (P=0.001). Besides, the effect of Quranic recitation was found to be meaningfully more effective on the reduction of the female testees’ anxiety than that of males.
