Abstract
In the first Pahlavi era (1304-1320SH), The education system underwent significant changes that created many challenges and problems. The Pahlavi effort was to make Iran progress in terms of education and training system without creating educational infrastructure in a commanding manner. The aim of this article is to discover and describe the problems and challenges of the education system of the first Pahlavi era as one of the most important periods of educational transformation in Iran, using the method of documentary and analytical studies and relying on historical sources of this period. The findings of this study indicate that the first Pahlavi government, despite considering reform programs, failed to create sufficient facilities for students in remote areas, especially in Lorestan schools, due to the weakness of the educational structure, hasty actions, and mismanagement, contrary to the promises it had made regarding the modernization of the Iranian educational system. Therefore, the actions of the first Pahlavi government in implementing modernist programs, especially in reforming the educational structure of schools, were mostly propaganda in nature, and in practice, students faced problems such as: a shortage of teachers and specialists, coherent and indigenous curricula, restrictions on freedom of thought, and numerous health problems, a lack of suitable space, and skilled administrators, which in some cases had a negative impact on their learning.
