Abstract

The aim of this research is to redesign the role of the mosque and the neighborhood structure as socio-cultural bases in supporting, preventing, and supporting the family in the Islamic society. The importance of the family as the most fundamental social institution and the center of education of the future generation has faced numerous challenges in recent years due to social and cultural developments, such as the increase in divorce and intergenerational conflicts. In such circumstances, the necessity of utilizing indigenous and religious capacities to strengthen the family is felt more than ever. The research method is descriptive-analytical with a qualitative approach. The data were collected in a documentary and library manner and were examined using systematic content analysis, religious texts, scientific research, and relevant theoretical background. The conceptual framework of the research is based on three axes: "philanthropy of family management", "the role of the neighborhood as a social unit", and "multidimensional functions of the mosque". This theoretical combination has enabled the redefinition of the position of the mosque and the neighborhood as centers of social trust and educational monitoring and has created the basis for presenting a local model for empowering families. The findings show that active participation of people centered on the mosque and the neighborhood, while promoting the mental and social health of families, increases collective cohesion, social responsibility, and strengthens social capital. The mosque, as the heart of the Islamic neighborhood, has a high capacity for holding educational, counseling, and preventive programs and can play a central role in family management.
