The purpose of this research is to methodologically explain and evaluate the process of the conceptual analysis of "education" in the research entitled "An Introduction to the philosophy of education in the Islamic Republic of Iran" (Baqeri, 2010) and to identify the strengths and weaknesses of this process and its results. This process has been explained by retrospective analysis and external and internal critique. To achieve the objectives of the study, the process of conceptual analysis used to define “education” in the “research” was methodologically explained, leading to the identification of seven methodological assumptions for this process. Then, its methodological assumptions were evaluated on the basis of a set of criteria that explain the methodology of processing educational concepts in the philosophy of education with an Islamic approach. These criteria are as follows: 1. No attention to the innovative aspect of the philosophy of education and the credential aspect of concept of education; 2. Not using controversial reasoning in processing the concept of education; 3. No reference to the foundations of stating the natural realities of the human life in defining education; 4. Not considering the needs and aspects of human’s social life in definition of education; 5. Not being committed to the criteria of accrediting educational concepts; 6. Ignoring many of the educational concepts that can be inserted in the semantic network of the Islamic education; 7. Not considering the fixed and changeable aspects of the concept of education; and 8. No far-reaching definition of education that convers various dimensions of human’s evolution.
