This study was aimed to identify and explain parenting styles and parent–child interaction patterns based them from an Islamic view. Using a qualitative approach and thematic analysis, verses from the Qur’an and authentic Islamic narrations were examined to derive a communication model tailored to different stages of child development. The findings indicated that, in Islamic narrations, the two components of “opportunity granting” and “demandingness” from parents play a central role in determining parenting styles. Based on thematic analysis, five parenting styles in parent–child interactions can be identified: the Liberating style (high opportunity granting and low demandingness, designated for birth to age 7, with a submissive interaction pattern), the Demanding style (low opportunity granting and high demandingness, specific to ages 7 to 14, with an assertive interaction pattern), the Disciplinary style (both high opportunity granting and demandingness, for ages 14 to 16, with a collaborative interaction pattern), the Consultative style (moderate levels of both, suitable for mid-adolescence, with a participatory interaction approach), and the Disengaged style (both components low, for late adolescence, with an accommodating interaction model). This model, consistent with the developmental trajectory in Islamic teachings, suggests that the form and quality of parent–child interaction should evolve according to the child’s developmental stages, progressing from a submissive approach to one promoting independence. The proposed model provides a culturally and religiously grounded foundation for parenting in Muslim families and can contribute to the enhancement of children’s well-being and identity
